War Declared: Alt-Right "news" blog outright lies, claims city tried to ban rally, declares "war" on Charlottesville...
The blog Alt-right-news.blogspot.com is falsely claiming in a new post that the city of Charlottesville attempted to ban the Unite The Right rally. Totally untrue. Actually, the city conditionally approved a permit for the rally yesterday, contingent on Jason Kessler's acceptance of a change of venue. Kessler chose not to accept the terms. Via Alt-Right-News:
"The rationale for the town junta's decision to revoke the licence at this extremely late stage is because of the vast numbers expected to attend the event. Weeks ago only hundreds were expected. Now it seems that thousands are expected, and the Charlottesville authorities and police say they will be unable to cope with such a large number of demonstrators exercising their First Amendment rights of free speech, especially as violent antifa hate groups are expected to be in attendance."
The article goes on to add this little nugget:
"The Alt-Right will now challenge this in court with its new team of expert lawyers, but even if this legitimate legal challenge fails, the town authorities are unlikely to be able to shut down the thousands of patriots expected to arrive in this way.
One way or another the park in which the statue is located -- now ludicriously renamed "Emancipation Park" -- is going to see some intense First Amendment action on August 12th."
It's unclear at this time if this is a movement wide sentiment, or the rantings of an unhinged lunatic taking liberties to speak for everyone. The Alt-Right is constantly repeating the false claim that the permit was revoked, denied, or that the city is trying to ban the event because they always planned to litigate this. This is the narrative they have to create for their expected legal action.
Restoring the honor!
