Reading The Tea Leaves: My Election Prediction...

My worst case scenario for Hillary Clinton. (Image courtesy of Real Clear Politics)

Folks, when it comes to politics, I'm no genius, but the Electoral College math is fun to play around with. We all know that there is a lot riding on this election. As far as how this election will effect the Heritage crowd and the far right in general, I think it's safe to say that if Trump doesn't pull this off, some of the Heritage folks that have been clinging to hope will finally give up on politics. Many of them will look towards secession as the answer. A large number of them will move further towards hate groups. I'm sure a bunch of them will look to hate groups for the first time in their lives. In a nutshell, if Trump loses, there will be a meltdown on the right. But can Trump win? Despite the dismal likability of both candidates, I think this election will hinge on three states. Look to Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin to make or break this election for both candidates. Here is the bad news for the right wing. All three states are in the top ten of tipping point likelihood, but look at Pennsylvania.

Now check out how all three states are trending.

Pennsylvania. (Image courtesy of 538)

Michigan. (Image courtesy of 538)

Wisconsin. (Image courtesy of 538)

Yikes. I say that if Trump can't close those gaps, it's over. Yes, the race is tightening, which is totally normal, but Trump is going to need nothing short of a miracle in my opinion to seal this deal.

Oh yeah, and then, there is always this:

Folks, I don't even like Clinton. I think she is a terribly flawed candidate and will be bad for the country, but if Trump doesn't step up his game in those three states, y'all better get yer Kleenex ready.

But of course folks, when there is overwhelming evidence that you're just flat out fucked, the "polls are rigged". Mark my words folks, it's going to happen. These folks are going to go the secession and hate group route if Trump loses. Folks, there have been a total of four polls in Pennsylvania since March 1st that show Trump up. Four.

  1. You mean to say you think the polls are genuine and valid? LOL LOL LOL!!!

And we already know Hillary and Wasserman Shultz rigged the primary against Bernie.

    1. I assumed you knew the difference between a primary and a poll.

I also assumed you understood the difference between a primary contest and the nominating process.

In both cases I was wrong.

I now understand that your ignorance of the political process rivals your ignorance of history. So we learn something new every day.

Guess you learned nothing working for Joe.

    2. Rigging shows disregard for integrity, Simpson, regardless of what's rigged. I would expect you to ignore that, though.

I learned that the US government is likely the most corrupt entity on the planet.

    3. In short, you don't understand the political process for the selection and election of the president. You attempt to conceal your ignorance (and that's being charitable) by declaring that everything's rigged.

By the way, some people argued that the elections for secession in 1860-61 were rigged and corrupt. Louisiana's often cited as a prime example. Yet when it comes to that, you're not upset. Nor do you take any interest in the efforts of white supremacist terrorists to rig elections during Reconstruction through the use of violence and intimidation.

      Better learn some history.

      Delete
    4. I understand that rigging is rigging, and people who do it are unethical.

Everything? I declared TWO things rigged. How do you get "everything" out of that? Oh, I know. You assassinate your intellect so you can wield the put-down.

1861 and Reconstruction were a long time ago, Simpson.... And the Confederates was no more corrupt than the people who came South and made war on them.

    5. Connie, don't you think it's a little premature to start playing the victim card? Neither candidate has won yet. Will the election still be rigged if Trump wins?

Folks, don't get me wrong, our election process is totally fucked and very vulnerable to being rigged, this is true, but it's way too early for idiots like Chastain to play victim. Like I said folks, Heritage Victim Mentality. Everything that doesn't go their way in this world is a conspiracy against them. If whites don't have enough children? Genocide. If a Library in Danville decides to sell old books? ZOG conspiracy to remove books. Folks, they are out of touch with reality because they get their "facts" from trusted names like Yellowhammer News or Patriot Newswire (And don't think that I am repping for our abysmal mainstream media, because I'm not).

      Delete
    6. Playing the victim card? Wasserman Shultz was FIRED for her rigging. And Hillary turned around and hired her. An example of keep your friends close and you enemies close? Or maybe keep your partners in crime close?

  2. What is interesting is how the changing demographics are impacting each state. It is also interesting how the white vote is sliding towards the GOP more in certain sectors which is making previous Democratic strongholds more competitive. However, the changing racial demographics in previously solid GOP states in the South and Southwest are making those states more competitive as well.

This article covers a good deal of the changes. http://prospect.org/article/shifting-electoral-map-gives-democrats-advantage

Something interesting in studying historic trends is that every so often the American electorate shifts from one polarity to the other. There is no set pattern to this as far as time, but in general either liberal or conservative factions control the political trends of the nation for an extended period of time. The conservatives lost control of the nation in 1933 to the liberals and regained it in 1981. While the out of power parties still won victories during those cycles, they could only do so by assuming centrist positions such as Eisenhower and Clinton. Before the cycle switched polarity, there was some instability issues which triggered the change in polarity. That instability caused the electorate to shift.

I think that is what we are seeing now. While it appears that we are entering a period of liberalism, the changing electorate is going to remake the electoral map and that will influence politics at large in some unpredictable ways. Also, with the nation entering a period of liberal dominance, that means the GOP will only win the White House by assuming centrist positions. Obviously, that is not going to happen in this election, so they can look down the road and begin planning now.

  4. "Two election experts from opposite sides of the country met Tuesday at the Hammer Museum to discuss the factors which may lead to a close victory for Hillary Clinton in November’s presidential election.

The lecture, “Predicting the Unpredictable: The 2016 Elections,” featured commentary by Lynn Vavreck, a UCLA political science professor, and Allan Lichtman, a political historian at American University in Washington, D.C.

Vavreck helps run Spotcheck, a website that analyzes the impact of political campaign ads in real time. Lichtman developed a predictive system that has correctly predicted the winner of every US presidential election since 1984.

During her lecture, Vavreck said that the better the nation’s economy does, the higher the chance the party already in power will win the election. Her model for the election is based on economic growth in the first six months of this year. The model predicted both Clinton and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump would receive about 50 percent of the vote in November.

“This election is meant to be a squeaker,” Vavreck said. “Neither party benefits from the current economic conditions, so they will both fight to refocus the election onto alternate issues.”

Vavreck added candidates focus on topics such as social issues or foreign policy, which majorities of their supporters feel are important.

Trump’s message of “Make America Great Again” and Clinton’s message of “Stronger Together” appeal to different groups of the electorate, Vavreck added.

“The key word (in Trump’s message) is ‘again,’” Vavreck said. “It alludes back to a time where America was more isolationist and divides the election by in-group and out-group based on race and ethnicity.”

Trump’s message succeeded in alienating white college graduates and bringing in white non-college educated men, Vavreck said. However, Vavreck said she thinks Clinton will win because more college graduates dislike Trump than there are non-college educated voters who like him.

Lichtman explained his model “The 13 Keys to the White House,” which helps him predict election results. The model consists of 13 true or false statements about the country, incumbent party and challenger, like “The incumbent party candidate is the sitting president” and “The economy is not in recession during the election campaign.”

If six or more of the statements are false, the model predicts the incumbent party will lose the election, Lichtman said.

“Every election is basically a referendum on the incumbent party,” Lichtman said. “If it does a good job, their candidate gets reelected. If it does a bad job, their candidate gets thrown out.”

Lichtman added his model currently predicts Clinton will win about 52 percent of the vote because eight of the test statements are true."

    http://dailybruin.com/2016/08/15/experts-predict-clinton-win-during-hammer-museum-lecture-2/

Lichtman has correctly predicted the outcome of every Presidential election since 1984 with a set of "keys" which do not factor polling data. His money is on Clinton in 2016.

    3. Trump's lawbreaking? Be specific.

It looks like Trump is losing less every day, and Hillary is digging her hole deeper every day. It's a given that candidates will go after each other, and may trash each other ... but when you trash the people as she just did, you are putting yourself in a hole too deep to get out of. Thus, to his critics, opponents and enemies, the only way to stop Trump from occupying the Oval Office will be to assassinate him.

Deplorable people in basket -- good, decent, real Americans.

Hillary caused the deaths of four Americans in Libya, blamed it on a YouTube video. Recently said on the campaign trail that there were no American lives lost in Libya. Said Sanders would give immunity to gun manufacturers. Said she thought (C) on a document indicated alphabetical order. Said she didn't send or receive classified emails. Classified documents on her illegal server were hacked and could endanger the USA. She had "bleachbit" used to wipe her server after being legally ordered not to touch it. She had 13 Blackberries smashed with a hammer to keep authorities and the American people from seeing what was on them. (People who aren't guilty don't destroy evidence this way.) Used the State Department (pay to play) to enrich the Clinton Foundation. Her foundation, instead of helping Hatians after the earthquake, made millions from it.

Said she landed in Bosnia under sniper fire. Said the Clintons left the White House "flat broke." Lied about Whitewater and Rose Law Firm. Lied under oath claiming she had nothing to do with Travelgate. And on and on and on... She's not only a liar, she's a narcissist. She's physically and mentally ill ... and insanely power hungry.

Can't prove anything on her e-mails either just like the GOP has so desperately attempted to do, and yet have come up with nothing.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump lies on a daily basis on national television and you say he doesn't because you refuse to believe in the facts that show he has lied.

There's no point in telling you anything because let's face it, you refuse to accept facts. All you are doing is lying as usual. You can't even accept the fact that Trump is being rejected by the majority of Americans with the lies about a corrupt government.

Face it, your candidate is as corrupt as they come. The stench of it clings to her. Trump looks like a saint by comparison.

The Congressional investigation wasn't intended to find anything. The Dims and the GOP are two sides of the same coin. However, Benghazi emails thought to be, ah, "lost" have been found. It's far from over. You need to broaden your view beyond the corrupt Congress and the corrupt FBI, Dimmy. Comey came out and said, basically, "She lied but we're not gonna do anything about it."

Bernie was my choice. If Bernie was the candidate, Trump would be in big trouble right now, instead, it's going to be a nail biter. I'm not sure if Hillary's health is going to play or not. We'll see. Regardless of her health status, with all of the conspiracies already flying compounded with what happened yesterday, it could be problematic for her.

Besides the openly racist campaign he's running, Trump is lying about immigration, he's not going to do any of that, and if any of you righties think he is, you're pretty fucking stupid. There will be no wall, and even if there was, there's no stomach for policing it the way it would need to be policed to have any real effect. Trump doesn't care about working class people, and why would anyone think that a billionaire would? I agree with some of the right that globalism is a big, big problem. I do think that we need tighter control on our borders without shutting them down.

Trump has been painted as an outsider, because he's not a career Washington politician. While this is true, y'all are forgetting one big thing, Washington is for sale, and Trump is sitting on a huge pile of cash. Yes, he isn't establishment because he's not a politician setting policy, he's just part of the unseen hand that's been buying our government for a very, very long time. I'm perplexed that y'all think he's somehow better than Hillary. He's not, and on top of that, what he's proposing is both fuzzy and fucking scary all at once. Y'all are taking huge leaps of faith that he's going to fix immigration when he hasn't even proven his wife came to the country legally. Get with it.

I have bad knees. When they are especially bothersome, my gait looks like hers ... I lose balance not because neurological issues, but because my knees and the muscles around them are not reliable. If I stand for any length of time, the pain gets so bad I almost cannot walk at all ... which makes me wonder how long she had to stand and wait for her motorcade today, and whether that could have had a bearing on her knees buckling when it got to her.

If it is a case of bad knees with her -- severe osteoarthritis and total wearing away of cartilage with bone on bone joint, I cannot imagine why she has not had knee replacement. A huge percentage of people who have had knee replacement are overjoyed and tell their surgeons, "Thank you for giving me my life back."

Of course, there can be other medical issues the preclude it. I had expected to have both my knees replaced by now, but these other two surgeries took precedence, and now I have to wait four more months...

If she has bad knees, the campaign should say so. That has no bearing on fitness to hold office, and a lot of people with bad knees could genuinely sympathize with her.

I'm sure you will be posting immediately how Trump was screwed over and coming up with various conspiracy theories while moaning about how America is falling apart.

I'll be laughing at you and the rest of the deplorables!

    7. You mean lose by a landslide. I think Hillary wins by more than six points.

    8. Dimmy, stick a fork in your candidate, she's done. Pneumonia "diagnosed" last Friday, but she goes to the 9-11 event, anyway.... How many people did she possibly infect there? Then, after a "medical episode" while getting in a campaign vehicle to leave the event, she isn't taken to a hospital but to daughter Chelsea's apartment, where, presumably, Hillary's grandchild is waiting to get exposed to pneumonia.

And if THAT isn't enough, after leaving Chelsea's apartment she touches and breathes all over a little child outside, while the cameras roll....

Several of her staffers have taken ill from exposure to her pneumonia bug, including campaign manager Robby Mook.

She doesn't care who she endangers...

That is one insanely power-hungry woman...

    10. 56 days to Trump's defeat. Better get that huge pile of hankies ready and a huge block of cheese to match the size of your whine.

  14. I love seeing Chastain recited all the arguments from the Trump True Believer handbook. It reminds me why she no longer writes fiction (especially when she can recite it) ... no original thoughts. Her creativity's dried up.

We really should take pity on her. It's been a tough year for her.

    1. Yep, that Socialized medical care she is forced to use has really caused her intense physical pain. She is also probably mad at being forced to use a Socialized retirement plan as well.

    1. I'm not convinced it's going to be as easy as a lot of people think it's going to be for Clinton. This article sees the same path that I do for Trump. It's a long shot, but still plausible.

At this point, I still think Clinton wins, but narrowly. I expect the race to tighten even more and I anticipate Trump flipping more battleground states.

  17. Clinton's new book, Stronger Together, written with Tim Kaine (who has grandly announced that the Catholic Church will recognize "gay" "marriage") is a colossal failure... Just like her campaign appearances... The country is spewing her and her corrupt party out of its mouth...

New York State Attorney General Eric Scheiderman has launched a probe of the Donald J. Trump Foundation to ensure its compliance with state regulations governing charities.

Scheiderman is a Democrat who serves on Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s leadership council in New York state.

Clinton and everything she touches drips with corruption...

    1. This is the problem with people like you, you see a broken news media and political system and place blame on one side. Both politics and the media are broken across the board. This isn't a right or left issue, but if it makes you sleep better to believe so...

    2. KKKonnie just cannot handle reality, so she has to find someone or something else to blame all the problems on. In the case of Donald Trump, she refuses to accept that fact that he is a liar, a racist, a sexist, and narcissistic asshole. Therefore in her mind, the media or someone else is at fault for making Trump appear differently than the image she has for him.

Same thing for the confederacy, American History, conservatism, etc. It's all a fantasy world for her and when it gets exposed as a fantasy she rejects the reality and blames those that expose the fantasy using facts.
