The FALSE, FALSE Narrative: Our Condemnation of Anarchists who beat a man with Confederate Flags in Olympia, Washington

I'd like to take a moment to discuss the beating of a man in Olympia, Washington, reportedly by a group of "Anarchists" over this past weekend.
Via Olympia, Washington City Government:
"Protesters Assault BystanderSaturday, September 5th
Officers were called to an assault Saturday night in the midst of a protest on 4th Avenue downtown. Witnesses saw protesters surround a man on a motorcycle and beat him with a bat.
The victim, a US Air Force pilot stationed at Joint Base Lewis McCord, was stopped in traffic due to protesters marching in the street. The protesters saw two confederate flags attached to the back of the victim’s motorcycle and surrounded him, rocking the bike in an attempt to knock it over. They sprayed the victim in the face with mace, and struck him in the back with a baseball bat and a glass bottle filled with red paint.
The victim suffered severe eye irritation and a bruised shoulder and back. One of the witnesses attempting to assist the victim was also sprayed in the face with mace. The protesters all dressed in black and camouflage, and wore masks covering their faces. The best description provided of the protesters who struck the victim was two white males, one that was approximately 6’4”.
The Olympia Police Department has a long history of supporting protests and groups who exercise their First Amendment rights in a peaceful manner. We are proud to have assisted these peaceful groups in ensuring they have a safe arena to do so. This protest was not such a gathering and resulted in criminal activity with injuries to two victims and later, extensive damage to City Hall. This protest group identified themselves as “anarchists”, which is a local Hate Group. Their actions and message was violence and hatred. If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Olympia Police Department at (360) 753-8300 or Thurston County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)."
This report prompted Brad Griffin, publisher of Occidental Dissent to write a scathing criticism of "Hatewatchers":
"We saw a quite a few of these incidents, particularly in the Northern states, over the summer. As always, the self anointed “Hatewatchers” are mysteriously blind to crimes which don’t fit their narrative. When a Confederate monument is vandalized, it is no big deal, but when a swastika is painted on a synagogue, it is a “hate crime.” They had nothing to say about the jihadist Muhammad Abdulazeez or Vester Flanagan’s race war. They made excuses for the violence of the Tinley Park 5. They celebrated the hate, vulgarity, violence, and vandalism of the mob in Washington, DC. They support the #BlackLivesMatter movement when it burns downs cities and assassinates police officers."
Once again, I strongly denounce and condemn violence of any kind, for any reason. Without knowing any other facts, other than what I read in the story above, I feel compelled to say that I feel that this type of behavior hurts any efforts to combat hate groups.
To Griffin's points, first, he makes an assumption that everyone that opposes his hate thinks that Confederate Monuments being vandalized is "no big deal". Untrue. While simply vandalizing a Confederate Monument does not alone make it a "hate crime" (because no particular protected class is singled out) that doesn't make it legal or ethical. Personally I strongly condemn these unlawful actions which are neither necessary, nor constructive. I condemn race wars of any kind regardless of who is initiating it. I've never once excused the actions of the "Tinley Park 5". Outside of celebrating the FAILure that was the rally planned by Chadwick J Rogers I don't condone the actions of individuals who break any laws or who profess hatred and instigate violence. But, Griffin's comments about Black Lives Matter are what really tick me off. First, Black Lives Matter has not been involved in any arsons. That is completely untrue. Secondly, Black Lives Matter has had absolutely nothing to do with the assassination of any police officers. Just more of Griffin's "False, False Narrative". Nice try, but next time, come with facts LOSer.
Restoring the honor!
