It's no secret that Nathan Bedford Forrest was the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. It's also no secret that people like Susan Hathaway, Pat Godwin, and Gary Carlyle are all fans of the "Wizard of the Saddle". "Silent Susie" was spotted again in support of ol' Nate, this time at Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Alabama. Hathaway was in good company as the "Wizardess of Selma" and her embraced in a hug on camera. Susie is good friends with the "Wizardess" apparently.

Restoring the honor!

  1. What were the job duties of the Grand Wizard? Do you even know? What did Nathan Bedford Forrest ACTUALLY DO as GRAND WIZARD of the KKK? Do you have any actual historical sources on the matter? You DO KNOW, don't you, that it was as Grand Wizard that Forrest gave orders for the Klan to disband and cease existence, don't you? Do you have a problem with his eradicating the first KKK?

    1. No, I don't. I just have a problem with how long it took the Grand Wizard to do. You make it seem like he became Grand Wizard and then "Poof!" they were gone. Didn't happen like that though, now did it?

The first era Klan, of which Nathan Bedford Forrest was the first Grand Wizard, was formed on Christmas Eve, 1865 in Pukaski, TN. Forrest was elected Grand Wizard at the Maxwell House Hotel, at the first Klan Convention in April, 1867. It was not until January 25, 1869 that Forrest issued General Order Number 1 disbanding the organization.

We all know the rest of the story. Thanks.
